This listing is for a Haynes grenadilla wood Db piccolo made for the USQMC group back in 1918 (per Haynes’ serial records). This piccolo needs new pads/refurbishing to be in playing condition. This piccolo features grenadilla wood head and body. The keywork is Boehm with closed G#, it pre-dates the Bb trill (so no Bb trill key), silver keys and still has the gold springs intact. Included is a new case that is lovely with a burgundy interior. This is listed as part of an estate sale we are liquidating. This is a very rare and hard to find early piccolo from the 19th century by the famous maker A Rampone. I do think it looks quite nice for its age likely being 175 years old or so. It measures roughly 11 1/2 when put together which I only did once and very gently. The locking mechanism on the wooden case still works properly. Very few of this age have survived. This listing is for an antique Carl Fischer (Germany company stencil brand with Carl Fischer as the importer) flute in grenadilla wood with nickel silver a. The configuration features Boehm system with nickel silver closed hole French-pointed keys, offset G, Bb trill, C foot with ebonite roller and teardrop D#. This flute plays well as-is and the pads are in great shape but we would recommend having a COA a. “Tune-up” to have this flute put in optimal playability. There is one hairline crack on the headjoint by the metal socket, one previously repaired hairline at the bottom of the headjoint and there appears to be a tiny hairline through the D# tonehole but we didn’t disassemble it to see if it was old and repaired or more recent. Again the pads are in fabulous shape so just a little further TLC and the flute will be a great player! We believe this flute was actually manufactured by Adler. Antique grenadilla wood – no cracks, intricate key work inlay tone holes. E’ Piccolo/flute made by top flute makers William and George of the JC Haynes company BOSTON MA. (flute makers late 1800s -early 1900s Boston, MA BAYSTATE was their first name brand). Later, they made silver, gold and other wooden flutes (wooden flutes ended 1918). Read their history here. LOOK AT THE WOOD GRAIN, and the key details. The left hand of this flute/piccolo plays ok but this instrument needs right hand adjustment. This Rare E LP flute comes with what I believe is the original case.
