This listing is for a Haynes grenadilla wood Db piccolo made for the USQMC group back in 1918 (per Haynes’ serial records). This piccolo needs new pads/refurbishing to be in playing condition. This piccolo features grenadilla wood head and body. The keywork is Boehm with closed G#, it pre-dates the Bb trill (so no Bb trill key), silver keys and still has the gold springs intact. Included is a new case that is lovely with a burgundy interior. This is listed as part of an estate sale we are liquidating. For long lasting durability and maximum sound quality. Instruments such as this one. Produce a rich mellow tone. I have been playing the flute and piccolo. Professionally for 35 years. My most memorable gig was for former. It was a fund raiser for senator Kennedy in Boston. I was playing with the john payne band. When i played this Piccolo. I was very impressed! I have been repairing Piccolos for almost 23 years. When played this Piccolo, i could not put it down. I like it better than any Piccolo that I have ever played. In this price range. Including the major brands that cost 3 times as much. It has a huge sound, a more even timbre. The altissimo and subtones are very easy to sound. And yet the tone is warm and full bodied. This instrument was manufactured in 2004. These Piccolos are stronger yet lighter. Crafted using modern methods. Yet maintain a traditional appearance. And the key action feels. Comparable to a hand built model. Yet it remains competitively priced. All instruments are shop-tested and adjusted. Dc pro is my own brand. That I designed myself. And had made for me. I learned flute making. My job was to solder the tone holes on these flutes.. Which was a very critical job. And had to be perfect. To assure perfect intonation. I was very fortunate. To have first hand experience in flute making. So I decided to make my own flutes. French horns and trombones.
