Vintage Yamaha Drums Japan SD493 Brass 3.5 X 14 Piccolo Snare Drum Power Hoops

Letting a few rare gems go. Japanese drum building and design at its very best. The Sakae-era snares are legendary. This brass piccolo is no exception. This is the original 80s version. Favored by Yamaha artist and studio engineers alike. Fantastic sounding snd easily playable snare. But, you know that already. This drum was a live and studio workhorse snare. It was well cared for and is still in very good used condition for the most part. Strainer and adjustable butt function smoothly and used Evans heads tune up with ease. Original Power Hoops are solid Additionally, original wires were replaced with 80s Pearl Free Floating extended wires. They lay perfectly flat. Edges are clean and integrity of the shell is excellent. Drum was used a lot, but still sounds, feels and records great! This is a players drum. Upon close inspection, youll find scratches, fingerprints, smudges and oxidation marks on the brass shell and lugs. Lugs are slightly bowed – still solid and hold tension perfectly. Very common with these lugs. Plenty of scratches and dings on the hoops and strainer. Drum is complete, except for one missing outer spacer-bar from the strainer. The bar on the butt side is present. The missing bar has no effect on the performance of the strainer. It just serves as a spacer for the tightening bolts of the wires level rod. Excellent rare find for the player. For sale is a Remo 3.5×13 snare in a black wrap. This is in overall good shape. Shows signs of use with scratches, scuffs, and small gouges in the wrap. No bubbling or seam separation. Metal hoops and hardware have light pitting and rust. Throw off is 100% functioning. Interior and bearing edges are clean. Heads and wires show wear, but have use left. 60’s Sonor 2.5 x 14 Pancake/Skinny/Piccolo Metal Snare Drum 8 Lug Rogers Muffler

Quality, items – Guaranteed! These Sonor Pancake snares are getting harder to find, in any condition. The shell is 2.5 inches deep, 3.5 inches when assembled with heads and rims. This one has really nice hardware, the rims, tension rods, strainer parts, and lugs/fasteners are all in great condition. The shell is missing the sticker type badge(common). The original muffler was missing, so I adapted a Rogers external muffler, that does the trick. The shell has tiny dents around the middle of the shell, the rest was protected by the rims. The convenient lighting in the last picture shows the magnified reflections of the little dents, I noticed one tiny pock type dent. The layup looks like a steel shell(magnetic) with a nice thick chrome covering, and a zinc/galvanic type coating on the interior. The throw-off and butt assembly are complete and working well. I tried a few snare wires, generic Taiwan sounded the best to me, go figure. Includes Rogers type thick snare cords. Evans ST Dry on top and Evans Snare Side 300 resonant heads are both new. All looks to be original LATE 60’s or Early 70’s Vintage Premier Piccolo Snare – Royal Ace or 2000 SERIES Flo-beam strainer with dual snares 14″ x 3″ & Early Premier Die-cast rims : see pics. Magnet won’t stick to the shell – so this should be Chrome on Brass Shell or aluminum? : see pics and let me know if you can id the shell…. Appears to have all original parts: See all pictures. Snare strainer is similar to a ROYAL ACE? Style Flo-beam Dual Strainer System – double 10 snare wires total 20 wires but one snare wire is broken off. & missing: SEE PICS. Actual dimensions are 14″ diameter X 3 1/4″ tall but this is typically called “14X4″: See pics. Original vin tage older DIE-CAST Premier rims brass? With 16 original slotted tension rods : see pics. No dents or damage but has some typical pitting on shell and chrome parts: See pics. Heads are not Premier, but REMO heads all in very good condition, g ently used condition: See pics. 16 Original Premier SLOTTED ROUNDED HEAD tension rods: see pics. Shell is 14″ X 3 1/4″ – Piccolo snare, either COB or COA, not a steel, not magnetic: see pics. PREMIER Badge serial #1003 – looks to be early 1970’s style badge (send a note if you know). The “Royal Ace style Flobeam” dual strainers with all “internal hardware working” amazingly smooth with dual snare wires. Adjustable throw(s) then the strainers throw off simultaneously: see pics. One of the wires on one set of Premier snare wires is broken off / missing. Some have suggested this is a Premier “Model 2011″ maybe a Model from the 2000 Series Snares – early 70s late 60s – Can you tell me more? This may not be a Royal Ace – not a wooden shell.. Please listen with good earphones to get a general idea of the sound of the snare. This drum is in excellent condition! It was a little dusty when I got it but was otherwise in great shape. Minor cosmetic wear if you look hard enough, but please see the pictures! I took the hoops and heads off and cleaned the drum. I also replaced the batter head, but it has had some light play for demo recording purposes. It will be well packed taped up. It is almost as good as new. Please ask any questions you have!
