Up for sale today is a very rare vintage low serial number 15XXX. Schilke P5-4 Bb/A Custom Piccolo Trumpet. The Schilke P5-4 Custom Piccolo Trumpet has long been the reference standard in piccolo Trumpet construction and sound. T his unique horn is sort after by countless professional musicians. This horn is unique in every way, starting with very the low serial # to the schilke Chicago U. A stamped on the 2nd valve. The horn does have a slight ding on bell shaft and easily removable dent on the bell itself. The Schilke P5-4 features a 4 valve construction with a. 450 inch medium bore and a 4 inch copper bell with a #8 taper designed for a rich tone with outstanding projection and superior intonation in all registers. Vintage 1976 Schilke P4-3 Piccolo Trumpet with EXTRAS

This horn had a Reeves valve alignment prior to my owning it, and I’ve confirmed that they have the horn’s serial number (and therefore pad specs) on file. The horn comes with its original Schilke Bb and A cornet-shanked leadpipe as well as a Reeves A adapter. This allows you to play with essentially the same tuning slide pull, and therefore the same feel from the Bb to the A side. The horn’s finish shows its age – I believe the previous owner had more acidic hands than I do, as some contact points show brass peeking through the finish. Schilke’s presence in the company at the time and so-on make it a superior instrument for baroque and quintet performance, in my opinion. Also included are a Curry heavy cap and a Schilke gold-plated cap, which I use on the 3rd slide. Schilke P5-4 Bb/A Piccolo Trumpet With Original Schilke Case

This is a pre-owned Schilke P5-4 piccolo trumpet in silver plate. I’ve played this horn professionally for weddings and the occasional theater show for close to ten years. Haven’t played it enough to really put much wear on it. Still has many weddings to play in it. The trumpet has a Precision Valve Alignment, a metal 4th valve guide (makes the horn resonate much better), and has been cleaned in the Osmun Music shop routinely. I have only used Hetman Light Piston on this instrument and it got bathed in it anytime I put it away. If you’re looking for a low mileage P5-4, this is a good one. The case has a few surface scratches on it, but is still in great condition. I rarely took the case to gigs because I used a combo case. The following is Schilke’s info on the P5-4.
