The First Production 45 RPM Record. PeeWee the Piccolo
The First Production 45 RPM Record… In the correct album sleeve and the original (ill fated) cellophane sleeves. All four sides are 1s stampers. Both disks have the early notch at the center hole. Labels have the early gold print. Vinyl in VG+ and better condition. Cellophane has edge rips. Go to the Indiana State Museum website to find the framed pressing of PeeWee with the inscription… “This is the first 45 rpm record pressed at the RCA Sherman Avenue, Indianapolis plant”. It is signed by R. Price, plant manager, dated December 7, 1948. The RCA presses in Camden, NJ were idled by a strike at that time (See Billboard magazine). This is the first 45 rpm recording to enter production. It has taken me 30 years to find 4 pressings and I haven’t found one in 3 years.

The First 45 rpm. PeeWee The Piccolo. Dec. 1948. RCA Victor Yellow Vinyl Record
RCA Victor Yellow Vinyl. RCA had pressed thousands of 45s for the release announcement of March 1949. We’d never know which was “the first” except for R. Price, manager of the RCA Sherman Ave. He had the first pressed 45 framed, dated (Dec 7, 1948) and signed and delivered to the Indiana State Museum where it now hangs (you can see it on the website). The other RCA pressing plant in Camden, NJ was idled by a strike at the time. So here is PeeWee the Piccolo in the original cellophane sleeves and the first 45 paper sleeves. The records are VG+ and all first pressing 1S, play tested. Hard to find and priced accordingly. Set WY-344 consisting of sides 1 thru 4 disk numbers 47-0146 and 47-0147. I cannot imagine a 45 collection without these. This item is in the category “Music\Vinyl Records”. The seller is “mnop” and is located in this country: US.
