These original hoops defined all the SS models for years. The solid shell maple drums were the sought-after snares for recording. Most of the newer models I see are not maple and have flanged hoops. New N&C factory Cam-Action Wire set under a Ludwig Weather Master X-Thin (lower profile) snare head. Evans G1 Coated batter head. Solid brass lugs, throw-off, and butt plate.
