BEAUTIFUL AND RARE HANS REINER HANDMADE GRENADILLA WOOD PICCOLO (#120). Schöneck is a village near Markneukirchen southwest of Dresden in the heart of East Germany’s historic instrument making region. Hans Reiner learned flute making from his father Anton, who worked in the Philip Hammig shop. Hans completed his apprenticeship and worked with excellent craftsmen at the Gebr. Mönnig and Phillip Hammig firms. He became a master flutemaker in 1936, set up his own shop and his piccolos are some of the most sought-after in the world. 5% DISCOUNT – Can be offered, please contact me for details. The pitch is in C and it has a split E mechanism. Notes are beautiful and clear and the unique embouchure cut allows an immediate response. This Powell Signature Model piccolo # 0282 is about 15 years old. It is made of aged Grenadilla wood with sterling silver. 925 key mechanism and Gold Springs. It has a Split E mechanism and the headjoint is their Classic Cut model. This is an excellent example of a high-end handmade professional piccolo. It is in superb condition and has had limited use. There are no cracks, dings or checks to be found anywhere in the wood and the silver mechanism is free moving and blemish free. The instrument has a warm sound and facile response. Top octave is stable and dependable. Pitch is consistent throughout all 3 octaves at forte and pianissimo. It has the modern Powell scale at A=442 and is easily tunable within a range both slightly below and above that pitch. The piccolo was professionally serviced at the Powell workshop in Maynard, Massachusetts about 6 weeks ago in preparation for sale. At that time, 8 pads were replaced, along with various body and headjoint corks. It was cleaned, oiled, polished and adjusted to factory specifications. The Powell maintenance report will be sent along with the piccolo. Not only does the piccolo look like it just came from the factory (which it actually did), but the original Powell wooden case and case cover are in excellent shape. It may also benefit from an adjustment in 6 months or so after the new pads, corks and wood react to general humidity and climate in their new home locale. Here you have music at its very very best. Photos of actual product. This piccolo belongs to my niece who now no longer plays it due to starting University. It is in very good condition and plays perfectly. She has also cleaned it hygienically ready for the next user. She has also well looked after it with regular service due to performing at concerts. Great instrument for those starting out, advancing, or advanced. Not overly difficult to play. Responsive low to high. Durable well made instrument. This is a really good instrument for the price. Expect to see very light signs of wear due to usage and storage wear / marks. Also the box is the original Yamaha case but has lost it Yamaha sign at the front but this really does not effect anything.
