Items General Condition Overview. Gold plating is wearing off all hardware. All steel parts show rust and scratches. Black matte has some dings and scratches. Factory wires are rusty. Badge is rusty, but, still relatively clear. Remo batter Emperor and Evans Hazy 300 are very good. There is one replacement tension rod, not-Spaun or gold plated, and two missing black plastic washers – on bottom. Integrity of the shell and edges are very good. Edges clean and smooth to touch. Snare strainer functions well. This drum is in generally good used players condition. Fully functional used condition. Up for sale is a RARE 1994 I think? Pearl Marvin Smitty Smith 14×4 Copper Snare Drum with 24k gold plating. If you know this drum, then there’s not too much that needs to be said. It’s an absolutely incredible drum, and a classic amongst signature snares. Condition I would say is 6.5 or 7 out of 10. There is some age-related wear as you might expect; some flecking and pitting to the gold hardware, and some tarnishing of the external copper, but it still looks great. I’ve tried to show the worst of these marks, and obviously they don’t affect the sound of the drum. I saw another of these drums for sale a while back with a highly regarded online retailer, the drum condition was listed as 7/10 and it looked far worse than this one. Original Pearl gold snare wires on underside. New coated ambassador batter head. Clear ambassador snareside, has a small ding in it. Happy to answer any questions or send more pics if required. Solid gold 18ct fitted piccolo head joint. Stamped “Nach HF Meyer Hanover”. Presumably still German made, as stamped. The brass internal tube fits tightly into the barrel joint shown. The barrel joint seems to be a pretty standard size. Very prominent Pre 1946 cross grained NOT speckled material so not posted to USA. Pachyderm Heffalump Bone in my opinion so take a good look at my. 24.5mp Nikon 60mm Prime Micro lens shots and make your own deductions please. Base it clearly upon the statement four lines above this. Cosmetic wear commensurate with genuine age. I added a standard barrel which you can have, it all fits beautifully securely. Everything seems fully airtight and the two gold sections are not loose. I would say this is a rare opportunity as I have never seen one like it. I was shown this as a curio and asked to test for gold. Successfully hallmarked at London Assay Office by me. It now bears the Leopards Head London and 750 hallmarks. The date hallmark bears no relation to the age of the item or maker. The mark is ONLY referring to the date of assay and sponsor who submitted. I know nothing further regarding this item and do not play piccolo. I believe it should probably have an appropriately sized cork shoved in the top end under the gold cap and will try to get one. You get exactly what you see only. Respectable offers are welcome since the asking price is only an estimate.
