The First Production 45 RPM Record. PeeWee the Piccolo
The First Production 45 RPM Record… In the correct album sleeve and the original (ill fated) cellophane sleeves. All four sides are 1s stampers. Both disks have the early notch at the center hole. Labels have the early gold print. Vinyl in VG+ and better condition. Cellophane has edge rips. Go to the Indiana State Museum website to find the framed pressing of PeeWee with the inscription… “This is the first 45 rpm record pressed at the RCA Sherman Avenue, Indianapolis plant”. It is signed by R. Price, plant manager, dated December 7, 1948. The RCA presses in Camden, NJ were idled by a strike at that time (See Billboard magazine). This is the first 45 rpm recording to enter production. It has taken me 30 years to find 4 pressings and I haven’t found one in 3 years.
