Used Piccolo

Antique J Gotzl Wien Wooden Flute / Piccolo Combination in Case Austria. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very interesting piece here. I think we are looking at both a flute component and then a piccolo here as all the pieces do not go together. Your identity would be kept anonymous. The musical instruments were made by J Gotzl of Wien, which is Vienna, Austria in German. Our guess would be that the instruments date back to the mid to latter 1800s. Very unique to see two instruments being packaged in one case. What you see is what you get. If there are to be mouthpieces, I do not see any. The black pieces are probably made of Grenadilla wood. They have a black colored ebony finish to them. Two of the black wood pieces have cracks/hairlines in them that run their length that will require repair attention. That includes the large piece with the end and one hole and the middle connector section. The two pieces of the flute with the keys on them look intact. So, the cracks are on the simper made pieces of the flute, not the keyed sections. The piccolo wood section with the keys is intact as well, no hairlines. The keys all appear to be in place on the pieces. Cannot speak to whether the springs are still strong enough or will need replacing. Would expect the pads will need replacing. There is also some design carved or impressed into the middle connector piece as well. The three black wood pieces that make up the flute are 28.5 when put together. The two piece piccolo is 12-1/8 when the two pieces are put together. The metal piece appears to be able to replace the bottom part on the flute without the middle connector being used. That combination is 28.5 long as well. The case is still with the piece. Hinges still hold the top to the base, the latches are still there. Inside is worn, but still all there. Wear to the outside material of the case, no dings, dents or missing pieces. The case even has the key with it that still operates the case lock! The carrying handle is still on the case as well. This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. There most likely will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.
