Used Piccolo

This is my dad’s snare. He says: CYBER WEEK SALE— this price will not last. Rare, discontinued Canopus 14×4’BELL’ BRONZE piccolo snare. Don’t confuse this with their current model, which is a conventional thin rolled shell. This is FIVE mm—that’s right, 5, not 3 as in most’bell’ metal snares including the’iconic’ ones—of solid cast bronze, weighing in at over 16 pounds. The power of the drum is not surprising. This one is no longer made and nearly impossible to find. The drum came factory equipped with a Nickelworks throwoff. After a couple of them stripped I replaced them with a Trick, which fits the same holes. The snares are aftermarket unbranded 42 strand, 1 missing. There is some patina to the shell and some pitting to the rims and lugs. The heads are a Coated Ambassador top and the original Canopus logo Ambassador snare head. This was my keeper metal snare. The hurricane (I’m in Miami) and some other stuff are forcing me to do this. I’m not happy. Bell brass and bell bronze snares routinely sell for over a (and sometimes several) thousand dollars.
