Up for sale today is a very rare vintage low serial number 15XXX. Schilke P5-4 Bb/A Custom Piccolo Trumpet. The Schilke P5-4 Custom Piccolo Trumpet has long been the reference standard in piccolo Trumpet construction and sound. T his unique horn is sort after by countless professional musicians. This horn is unique in every way, starting with very the low serial # to the schilke Chicago U. A stamped on the 2nd valve. The horn does have a slight ding on bell shaft and easily removable dent on the bell itself. The Schilke P5-4 features a 4 valve construction with a. 450 inch medium bore and a 4 inch copper bell with a #8 taper designed for a rich tone with outstanding projection and superior intonation in all registers. For sale is a Wm S Haynes Db piccolo, serial number 9287, marked “Wm S Haynes Boston, Mass”, silver (we think all Wm S Haynes were Sterling Silver, as all the Wm S Haynes double wall clarinets we have are sterling, but we aren’t seeing the markings, on the piccolo stating so). Wm Haynes flutes, piccolo, and sterling clarinets, are among, if not the worlds best, they are top quality instruments, this piccolo, is no exception. Piccolo, comes in a Gemeinhardt hard shell case, in good condition, instrument will need a repad/overhaul, but well wirth the cost we are asking for. Only noted mentions are, it appears to be silver plated which is mostly in very good condition, with some tarnishing on one area… Also, the previous owner inscribed their info in the area under the serial number, then scuffed through it… This is in original hard case, which is also in good condition, measures 9.5″ long x 3″ wide… Outside is very good, latches both work as they should, inside plush liner intact, with some discoloration. Caused from what, I’m not sure, and didn’t seem to cause any damage the instrument, other than some tarnishing in one area, which I mentioned above….
