Fleischmann N Amtrak ICE Intercity Express Northeast Corridor Piccolo 937440 NE. This is a very rare model of a high speed trainset. It features the Amtrak ICE. This was a real train, and a forerunner to the modern Acela. It was essentially a demonstrator for Amtrak to assess the feasibility of high speed rail on the Northeast Corridor. This set is very very rare. The set includes two locomotives, one powered and one dummy. The powered unit is lit, it has white lights in forward and red in reverse (please note that the powered locomotive should be run as the aft locomotive). It does have to be at high speed for the lights to be on. It features a first class coach, a diner Bord Restaurant, and four economy class coaches. The pantographs can be raised. These are the exact tires, not a substitute. The powered locomotive runs good, but it needs to be the aft locomotive to run properly because the chassis drags a bit in forward. As you would expect from a German model, the detail is excellent, and everything is well put together. This includes the couplers, which are very tight to snap in place. You will need to be very careful and patient in coupling the cars. These couplers are VERY tight and once coupled, you will never need to worry about the cars uncoupling. Again, this is a German model and it is made with the level of precision you would expect from any German product. Once you have this set up on the track, it runs like a dream and has no trouble with inclines. The condition is overall very good. He trainset looks great, and the box is in very good condition also.
