Heavy Beech Designer 9 ply Phonic Shell Mahgny Red (MR) Finish 4 1/2 x 14 (measures between 4 1/4 and 4 1/2). Piccolo Snare Drum Model 1404BH MR Made in Germany. 10 Designer Piccolo Lugs w/Tune Safe Collars, Slotted Rods, Designer Throw Off and Butt Plate No date stamp inside shell but I have part of the original factory box that is stamped Dec 1 2003. 10 Hole Hella Die Cast Hoops w/square snare gates. This may be the only drum like this in existence, and was never catalogued. This was a special order by the the owner of the Sonor Museum website. It came from the factory with a Heavy Maple badge because Heavy Beech was not an option during the Designer era. One of the previous owners etched that out. Condition is very good with only area showing wear is the chrome on a few of the tension rod heads, but there is no rust or pitting. Sounds like you would expect with the mellow warmth of Beech that also has a bright attack on top of the note. This drum will tune anywhere in the sonic spectrum, definitely not a one trick pony like so many other piccolos.
