This listing is for an antique Carl Fischer (Germany company stencil brand with Carl Fischer as the importer) flute in grenadilla wood with nickel silver a. The configuration features Boehm system with nickel silver closed hole French-pointed keys, offset G, Bb trill, C foot with ebonite roller and teardrop D#. This flute plays well as-is and the pads are in great shape but we would recommend having a COA a. “Tune-up” to have this flute put in optimal playability. There is one hairline crack on the headjoint by the metal socket, one previously repaired hairline at the bottom of the headjoint and there appears to be a tiny hairline through the D# tonehole but we didn’t disassemble it to see if it was old and repaired or more recent. Again the pads are in fabulous shape so just a little further TLC and the flute will be a great player! We believe this flute was actually manufactured by Adler. This rare AE Fischer flute was handmade in Bremen Germany and I originally thought it was a Rittershausen stencil but it is not identical to a Rittershausen. This flute needs a full overhaul – keys need full disassembly, cleaning & oiling as all of the keys don’t move independently and are seized up from sitting unused for many years. The pads need to be replaced as they are very old but on a positive note the pads are held in with screws and washers! The toneholes are soldered and appear to be in good condition. This flute is made of nickel silver (aka maillechort) with lovely silver plated finish throughout. It should polish up very nicely. The mechanism is closed hole Boehm with French-pointed keywork featuring offset G, closed G#, Bb trill, D# roller and C foot. Includes original case & key with crutch (crutch needs to be resoldered back together but is complete) in good condition. Case lock does still work. Flute does not play as-is but is worthy of a full restoration. Overall length assembled: 26 15/16in (68.42cm) including crown. Embouchure hole to center of C# tonehole: 9 5/16in (23.65cm). Embouchure hole to end of foot (sounding length): 23 13/16in (604.8mm). All photos are of actual item available for sale. Additional photos available on request! Really awesome antique instrument here. It is a piccolo oboe, or known as a French musette. Not sure what metal for the keys. All keys depress, open and close as should, except one gets stuck open and can be tapped back down easily. Has markings of instrument maker C. Fischer, which puts this instruments’ age at late 1800s to early 1900s. May need tuning and cleaning for use. Please ask any questions, thank-you.
