Antique Boosey Hawkes Rosewood Fife, Wooden Flute Piccolo, Vintage Folk Whistle
This beautiful antique Boosey & Kawkes fife Piccolo? Date to the 19th century, it is made from rosewood ebony? And has several metal keys as seen in the photos. All the keys appearing to be in good working order however the pads look old and may need replacing. The flute splits into two, these segments appear to be made from two different woods which makes me wonder if they started off life together? Condition is good, it is complete with no splits in the wood, mechanically the piece seems fine. However the end cap is broken as shown in last photo, the end of the fife that this piece attaches to seems to be plugged with an internal piece so I think the broken part is more decorative that functional. The joint between the two segments will need attention to achieve an airtight seal. Measuring 37 cm long.
