Hi, I have several kinds of band instrument repair tools to sell in the next few weeks. I’m not an expert on any of these, I’ll describe them as I see them. Here is a great lot of 4 pre-owned, woodwind, flute, piccolo, and sax neck expanders. They are in good condition except for some tarnish and a few light scratches.. 1 of them has some grease inside, the one that is 1″ wide (at the expander end) and 6.5″ long.. The twisting wheels on all 4 twist fine except for the one that is 7/8″ wide x 6.5″ long, that one twists, but it needs some grease to twist easier, it twists a little rough/harder.. The other 2 expanders measure 1/2″ wide x 8″ long, and 3/4″ wide x 8″ long. There are no numbers or names on these tools. Sonor Lite LD400 Piccolo Snare Birch 1986 Creme White. This snare is in almost new condition despite being 34 years old. There are no blemishes on the shell and minimal pitting on the die cast hoops. I replaced the Sonor snare wires as they were stretched and it now has Puresound wires which are nice and sensitive. It also has new Evans heads top and bottom. While it can certainly be tuned as a piccolo snare it actually has quite a warm tone and solid mid note if tuned to medium tension. Its versatile and belongs with someone who will play it, record it or display it. It comes with a the original fibre case in okay condition. If you want to see some fantastic use of this model, search YouTube for Benny Greb and Johnny Rabb (before Benny developed his signature snare)… Its a wonderful and humorous battle of snares between these two greats. RARE YAMAHA SD-435DG DAVID GARIBALDI CUSTOM MODEL PICCOLO SNARE DRUM. Original first issue model. 14 x 3.5 seamless brass shell. Blue nickel over brass. 45 degree bearing edges. Very good condition but please note this is not a new drum. I’ve fitted two new heads for the new owner, & the drum has pure sound snare wires fitted. There are a few marks consistent with use and the age of the drum, but overall this drum is in very good condition. Usually when someone says something is rare in a listing, it seldom actually is, but this really is, so rare in fact that I cant find another one for sale online at the moment. This is the original first issue model, blue nickel over seamless brass shell. Model number: SA435DG & the production number of this drum is 0313, made in Japan. Highly adjustable snare drum with three air vents. These drums came with three rubber bungs originally, the idea being you could block up one, two, or all three of the air vents to change the dryness of the drum, please note there is only one of these rubber bungs present. Photos are of the actual drum and there are no filters applied, it is exactly as you see. This drum has been played since I bought it in the very early 2000s, loads of gigs & recordings so it does show signs of wear here & there but OVERALL this is in really good condition. Rich & colourful sound, it’s a bright, fast drum when cranked up, & works really well in the mid range, giving a nice full-bodied crack with well balanced definition throughout the dynamic range. Within its context, the instrument bore is unusually/ interestingly large at 11.56 mm (0.455), which I measured at the first valve pipe. Bell diameter is 120 mm (4.724 inches). I find it warm, open and forgiving. I have never spotted evidence of any previous repair on this instrument. The lacquer sparkles and tiny blemishes are hard to spot. Please zoom in on the area of the leadpipe in line with 2. Valve, to see light surface scuff in the lacquer here. I don’t want to buff it too vigorously. The valves are quite pristine and glide beautifully. This instrument is a tribute to great master-craftsmen of its time. Devotees will know that Couesnon serial number records were lost in a fire, (two, in fact), and so the serial number 37495 confirms little. The last digit is not penned in, but this confirms that it is a 1960s vintage. Four other mouthpieces will also be supplied, that I have found to work well on the instrument. They have been altered in a way that they can only be fitted to this instrument. Their outer shanks have been specially milled to take the place of the removable/ tunable lead-pipe receiver; consequently, bypassing the need to use cornet shanks.
